The Experience Of The Home Building Process In San Diego, CA

Building your new home is such a rewarding and exciting experience because you get to work to customize your home to your unique lifestyle and desires. You have a blank slate when you build your own home and, while this can be overwhelming, we make it easy at Buildable. There will be many decisions you will need to make throughout the home building process and it’s critical to make the important ones prior to the build phase, otherwise you risk incurring change orders or delays.

At Buildable, we space out the decisions that need to be made and sequence them, so you have enough time to be confident in your choices and not be stressed. Our team guides you through this process — giving explicit direction and perspective about decisions that need to be made quickly or can be deferred.

As we progress through the home building process, you will receive periodic updates from us on how things are progressing and we will, of course, raise anything noteworthy to you if necessary. You will be able to see the advancement of the project from month to month, and we will set up reviews at appropriate times to discuss specific aspects of the project. Buildable manages the process from start to finish and you will be in good hands throughout the build process.

Here are a couple of things you should expect during the build phase:

Ongoing Decisions

Not every decision in the home building process needs to be made at once. The entire process takes between 12-18 months and you will need to make choices throughout the process which is why it’s important to budget. Buildable will be in contact with you during the project to make these smaller decisions along the way — all in an attempt to make every decision as smooth as possible and reduce any feelings of being overwhelmed.

Sequencing

The art of efficient home building is sequencing every step in the right order. There may be times when a flurry of work is done by multiple subcontractors at once, and other times when the project appears to be moving slower as inspections are occurring. All of this is completely normal and should be expected in the process. At times, there may not be daily or weekly updates.

Coordination with the Builder

Throughout the build phase, you will work with your custom home builder to organize times to review the project and visit the property together. If you visit the lot without the builder, you may not get the answers to the questions you have, which could cause frustration. When selecting a home builder, establish a solid level of communication that you’re comfortable with, so you are always sufficiently updated on the status of your project.

At Buildable, we take away the stress of coordinating all these partners by bringing everyone under one roof. Talk to us and we’ll provide you with answers to the questions you may have.
